ABSTRACT
In recent years, the extreme climate condition has caused serious disasters on coastal areas. The research report of National Communication of the Republic of China, Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change(IPCC) and United National Environment Programme(UNEP) indicate that coast and islands will be the affects serious areas. This study investigated the correlation between disasters such as landslides, dust, driftwood and coastal vulnerability factors. It obtained ten coastal vulnerability assessment factors through the survey of domestic experts. Based on the United States Geological Survey USGS coastal vulnerability analysis method, the localization coastal vulnerability and risk assessment method was established. From the results, it could find Taiwan coastal high-risk areas, mostly concentrated in the southwestern coastal area. The main influence factors including the type of land use, land subsidence, and coastal erosion factors. Therefore, this study in accordance with the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate develops suitable adaptation strategies for high-risk areas. It could be provided with the policy makers and subsequent researchers to more precisely grasp the complex disaster impact in Taiwan's coastal areas.
