RIASSUNTO
Osaka Bay is used to be called “Naniwa no umi”, which means fish-abundant ocean and it is true from the viewpoint of fish productions per sea area even now. However, Osaka depends on other domestic area or foreign countries for their seafood, meaning that it is much far from local consumption. This study aims to identify characteristics of fish-eating of residents in southwestern Osaka, called “Senshuu” area. We conducted online survey covering wide-ranged question such as residents' awareness of local fish in Osaka Bay, how often they eat fish at home, where they buy local fish, etc., and compared three cities: Sakai (north), Izumisano (middle), and Hannan (south). In the findings, residents in Izumisano and Hannan are more familiar with fishes caught in Osaka Bay than the residents in Sakai. The reasons can be bad image to Osaka Bay and access to local fish stores. Income is also an important key factor. Overall results indicate that not only promotion of local fishes but also other social viewpoints are important.
