The invention relates to an evasive autopilot system for vessels. The system includes an autopilot device (2) which controls at least the heading controls (3) of the vessel (6) and comprises an electronic evasion module (4) capable of generating evasive manoeuvre orders for the autopilot device (2) if the vessel is heading on a collision course. The system also includes: a radar (7) connected to the electronic evasion module (4) and intended to detect obstacles (5, 5') generating collision courses; a laser range-finder (16) and an automatic identification system (AIS) (17), both supporting the radar (7); means (18) for detecting the degrees of rotation of the rudder; and sensors (19) for measuring the revolutions of the motor.
