MUM - Large Modifiable Underwater Mother Ship: Requirements and Application Scenarios

RIASSUNTO

To identify the requirements of the MUM concept a variety of application scenarios of underwater operations are considered. The knowledge gain is based on interviews with experts form different companies and institutes in the underwater technology community, e.g. large offshore operators, engineering service provider or maritime research institutes. Applications are classified into four groups: a) Transport incl. ROV / manipulator operations; b) Pure Transport; c) Monitoring; d) Stationary. The paper presents the identified application scenarios and the appraisal criteria to isolate particularly suitable scenarios. Based on the conditions and specifications of these prominent applications the final system requirements of the MUM system are defined.
